Dynamic Women on Tour!

Annette Turner Center for the Arts in Valdosta, GA, is the first stop for the Dynamic Women. Dynamic Women is a group of carcaturistic sculpturesof women-young, old, and deceased-who have made and continue to make contributions not only to rights of women today but also to science, medicine, education—-professions and contributions too many to name. Many of these women are well-known; however, many continue to work quietly and tirelessly to bring better lives and more rights to those who don’t seem to have many rights and voices of their own.

Grieving the loss of Ruth Bader Ginsburg led my search for a voice to keep her name alive even to a small audience. RBG was the first Dynamic Lady sculpture. I felt compelled to spread her story keeping it in the public eye as much as possible. Soon many other Dynamic Women showed the way. Often,  people suggest women who contributed whose names I have never heard before leading me to more research, knowledge with regard to each woman’s contributions.

Dynamic Women encompass a group of several dozen figures, plus a long list I hope to create. Most recent additions to this group now include Shirley Chisholm - the first black woman in Congress and the first woman to run for President of the United States; Barbie, an icon for young women for decades, and Wonder Woman, a character created by a psychiatrist and writer who characterized Wonder Woman as an icon of women with physical and mental strengths, values and ethical attributes that both men and women exhibit.

Stay tuned for information regarding our next exhibit.
